'Desolate machine' – Lithograph on paper (1 of 3 edition)

In a nod to the industrial age and barren landscapes of Shaun Tan, this artwork examines the effects of industrialisation on people and places. ‘Desolate machine’ invites viewers to consider the balance between progress and preservation.

'Flow state' – Acrylic paint and pen on paper

Flow State captures the joy of immersive, process-led making, reflecting the energy and rhythm of art as a journey rather than a destination. Layered textures and gestural marks embody a commitment to experimentation and attentive exploration within an open-ended, research-led approach to art.

'Wyberba' – Acrylic paint, oil pastels and charcoal on canvas

Wyberba is a rural town in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland whose name reportedly means 'at the end of the mountain'. In this painting honouring the area, rugged granite ranges are depicted in charcoal drawn from sticks found in the bush and burnt in the campfire. The red line and heart symbolise the continuous connection to this land shared across generations, while the blue-hued mountains, sunshine, and flowing water capture the quiet joy of renewal after drought and fire. This work embodies slow, attentive engagement with place and the emotional potential of the environment.

'Wyberba' – Onsite work in progress

Drawing with charcoal made from sticks burned in the campfire at Wyberba; slow and attentive mark-making attuned to the surrounding environment. Preparing to add washes of colour taking hues from the surrounding forestry.

'Head in the clouds (Triptych)' – Acrylic paint and oil pastels on canvas
Head in the Clouds (Triptych) captures the joyful spontaneity of collaborative making and experimentation. Created on a large, unstretched canvas using layered pastels and washes, the work embraces process, imperfection, and vibrant abstraction, reflecting exploration as a method for connecting with environment and imagination.

'Taking flight' – Graphite pencil on paper

Taking Flight depicts a moment of liberation from the constraints that hold us back, symbolised by a bird in motion. It explores how internal and external pressures shape the ability to live in alignment with dreams and values, resonating with the pursuit of creative freedom and deeper connection with place.

'Heart-shaped box' – Acrylic paint and pen on canvas

Heart-Shaped Box takes its title from the Nirvana song, using this cultural metaphor to explore the highs and lows of human experience through layered abstraction. The work reflects on emotional complexity and the tension between vulnerability and strength, aligning with an interest in the interplay between internal landscapes and external expression.

'Dance to your own beat' – Acrylic paint and collage on paper

Dance to Your Own Beat celebrates freedom of expression through layered brushstrokes and collage elements that convey rhythm and movement. The work reflects intuitive making and experimentation, exploring how internal states of emotion and energy can be expressed outwardly through movement, mark-making, and the layered surfaces that connect inner experiences with the external world.
